was built in 1973 next to the McGraw-Hill Building as the southernmost of the Rockefeller Center Extension skyscrapers, with the Celanese corporation as the main tenant. The 45-storey exterior of the 180.5 m tall building follows the extension's uniform vertical striping. There is a small plaza facing Sixth Avenue, flanked on the south side by a lower wing protruding from the main building mass. Nowadays the 148,700 mē building is the New York headquarters of the media mogul Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. |
