Public Contribution in High-Rise Building Design

Scope of Work
The design research project will be concerning with the Public Contribution in the High-Rise building Design in New York City. The scope of work will be clarified according to integration of the meaning of each word in the topic that was identified by myself;
Public = of or relating to people in general
Contribution = To give up a share to ,or participate in
High-Rise Building = Type of buildings that result from the optimisation of land cost and building economic, the location preferences of their occupants, the desire for flagship status of their owners induced by the assertive image associated with the high-rise, and ingenious feats and inventions of architectural and engineering design.
Design = To solve the problem, in this case means invent or create.
New York City = The area in Manhattan Island

All the meanings will transform the limit of the context in the research. This research was divided into 4parts;
1. The importance of public role in urban space design - Why creating public space is so important ?
2. Case Study - the high-rise buildings or high-rise complex that has an outstanding character of the contribution to public. The list of the cases was selected according to the suggestions and advices from the practicum faculty member(Mr.Greg Clement) in weekly meeting.
The contexts in the case study area are:
1. The Background information of the building – the information of the building
2. The Issues on Contribution to the public
3. The evaluation of the Public contribution
4. Other opinions
3. Conclusion of all case study evaluation that will lead to the criteria of success in public space design.
4. The hypothesis and idea for the next research - if this public space and the criteria will be able to be adopted in the Skyscrapers Projects in Bangkok.
